The Gospel brings reconciliation between Gujii Oromo and Borana Oromo

For centeries, the Gujii Oromo and the Borana Oroma have been fighting over cattle, water and grazelands. The fighting has been fierce and left many widows and fatherless.

Now the christian churches among the Boranas and Gujii have taken initiative to arrange Peace Conferences. Many Gujii’s and Borana’s gather peacefully together for worship and reconciliation.CIMG4365 (800x600)

Solomon Yohannes Wako

Solomon Yohannes Wako, a teacher at TEC Mission Department, a NLM Missionary, and a Borana Oromo himself, has been preaching at the conferences several times. He says that many attempts have been taken to bring peace among the people, but only the gospel of Christ has brought peace among the fighting tribes.                         “Their forefathers have been fighting througout the centeries. Now the gospel of Christ is turning this history, ending the tradition of fighting.” The Gospel brought these peoples together.

When preaching on these peace conferences my message is: “Stop killing one another. Stop killing somone who was created in God’s image and likeness. He is your brother!” The Gujii and the Borana Oromo are brothers. They do not need to fight each other. They can live in peace together as brothers and sisters in Christ.
